Sambal Express Colindale
About This Spot
Stepping into Sambal Express Colindale is like entering a corner of warmth and familiarity tucked away in the steady hum of London’s Edgware Road. Though the space is primarily designed for takeaway, there’s an inviting pace here—unrushed yet bustling with the kind of quiet energy that suggests loyal locals drifting in for a taste of home. The rhythm is steady, comfortable, and unpretentious, where the friendly greetings from the team create a welcoming thread connecting one visitor to the next.
Here, the aromas hold a soft kind of magnetism—a fragrant blend of Sri Lankan spices and South Indian flavors that gently hint at the care folded into every meal. It’s not about fancy presentations or elaborate menus but the honest, soulful preparation of dishes that carry echoes of family kitchens and familiar celebrations. The smell of fresh roti canai, warm samosas, and the occasional sweet allure of a birthday cake waiting to brighten someone’s day all hint at moments of simple joy.
The staff’s warmth stands out, turning even a quick order into a small exchange of kindness and goodwill, offering a comforting parallel to the food itself. While the space might feel more like a bustling local deli than a sit-down restaurant, there’s a shared understanding that this is a place where food is a heartfelt offering—an everyday luxury and a reminder of treasured flavors from home.
For those who savor authentic taste with good company, Sambal Express Colindale quietly holds a spot where the familiar and the flavorful come together, painting a small but sincere vignette of community life in this corner of London.

Amazing place. Best mutton rolls full of meat and flavour. Curries taste like they’re prepared at home.

Delicious food & ingredients. They heat up food if you want. The short eats are to dye for. I suggest the jumbo mutton rolls. They are notorious & will leave you speechless. Rolls to get you in the role. Hard to find south Asian food can be found here. E.g. chilli paste another must try.
